Documentation — v0.2.32

Voyonder Documentation

Everything you need to get the most out of Voyonder — from your first conversation with Sage to managing your subscription and troubleshooting issues.

Getting Started

Everything you need to know to start planning with Voyonder.

What is Voyonder?

Voyonder is an AI-powered travel planning partner. Instead of filling out forms, you have a conversation with Sage, your personal AI travel concierge. Sage asks the right questions, catches logistics problems, and builds a beautiful itinerary — in minutes, not hours.

Creating Your Account

Sign up at voyonder.com/join with your email address. You'll receive a magic link to verify your email — no password needed. Once verified, you can start planning immediately with a 7-day free trial. No credit card required.

Planning Your First Trip

After signing in, click 'New Trip' to start planning. Tell Sage where you want to go, when, and with whom. Sage will ask follow-up questions to understand your preferences — travel style, budget, interests, and pace. You can answer in plain English, just like talking to a travel agent.

Understanding the Dashboard

Your dashboard shows all your trips, recent activity, and quick actions. Each trip card shows the destination, dates, and progress. Click a trip to open it and continue planning. You'll also find suggested activities, pricing info, and collaboration options from the dashboard.

Using Sage

Get the most out of your AI travel concierge.

Chatting with Sage

Sage is your AI travel concierge. Start a conversation about any trip — existing or new. Sage has a four-lens understanding of travel: customer fit (your preferences), practical reality (budget, timing, logistics), group dynamics (travel companions), and coordination (action items, decisions, follow-ups).

Refining Your Itinerary

You can ask Sage to modify any part of your itinerary. Say things like 'Swap the museum visit on Day 2 with a cooking class' or 'I'd prefer a quieter hotel.' Sage understands context and makes adjustments without losing the rest of your plan. Every change is tracked with version history.

Research Queries (R1a)

Sage now accepts natural-language research requests. Ask for things like 'hotels in Paris under $300 for 4 people' or 'flights to Tokyo in December.' The request is broken down into travel details — destinations, dates, budget, hotels, airlines, activity types, and traveler count — and the system builds a research plan from those details, gathering and organizing supporting references you can review. Processing runs in the background with a status you can check, and requests interrupted by a restart or outage recover automatically.

Understanding Your Travel Details

When you describe a trip, Voyonder recognizes the key details automatically: destinations (airports and cities), dates and date ranges, budget limits, hotel and airline names, activity categories (sightseeing, dining, transport, nightlife, and more), and how many travelers are in your group. These details drive more accurate research and recommendations.

Activity Discovery (v0.2.14)

Activities now load instantly from cache on returning visits — no more waiting for AI research every time. If cached data needs refreshing, it updates in the background while you browse. AI-generated personalized recommendations appear on subsequent visits. Curated fallback activities ensure you never see an empty page, even without third-party API keys.

Collaborating with Travel Companions

Invite travel companions to view or edit your trip. They can add activities, suggest changes, and leave comments. Each collaborator can be assigned as an editor (can modify) or viewer (read-only). Invitations are sent via email with a secure link.

Exporting and Sharing

Export your itinerary as a PDF or subscribe to the iCal feed for calendar integration. Share a read-only link with friends, family, or your travel agent. The share page includes day-by-day details, activity descriptions, booking links, and cost estimates.

Case Studies & Community (v0.2.15)

Visit /case-studies to read real Voyonder travel stories — solo trips, couples getaways, group adventures, and more. Join the Voyonder Discord community at discord.gg/m4HZY7xNG3 to share experiences, get travel tips, and connect with fellow travelers.

Subscription & Billing

Plans, pricing, and billing management.

Subscription Tiers

Voyonder offers three tiers: Explorer ($29/mo founding), Adventurer ($79/mo founding), and Elite ($499/mo founding). Founding Member pricing is locked in at these rates. Each tier includes a 7-day free trial. See voyonder.com/pricing for full feature comparisons.

Managing Your Subscription

Visit your billing settings at voyonder.com/settings/billing to view your current plan, update payment method, download invoices, or cancel. If you have an active subscription, you'll be directed to Stripe's secure billing portal to manage your plan. Trial and pre-subscription accounts are directed to the settings page instead. Voyonder never stores your payment details.

Free Trial Details

New accounts receive a 7-day free trial on the Explorer tier. No credit card is required to start. You'll receive reminders before the trial ends. After the trial, you'll need to choose a plan to continue. Your trips and data are preserved regardless of plan.

Team Subscriptions (v0.2.31)

Organizations can now purchase a single subscription that covers the whole team, instead of every member paying separately. Visit Settings > Billing and look for the Team section: admins can upgrade the team's tier or manage billing; other members see the subscription status read-only. The organization pays for one seat per active member, and the seat count adjusts automatically as members join or leave. If a membership change ever fails to sync, Voyonder reconciles the seat count automatically within about 30 minutes. Features follow the higher of your personal tier and your organization's tier — e.g., an Explorer member of an Adventurer organization gets Adventurer features. If the organization's subscription is past due or unpaid, new invitations and acceptances pause until billing is resolved (existing members are unaffected). Downgrades are handled through the Stripe billing portal, not the checkout flow.

Cancellation and Refunds

You can cancel anytime from your billing settings. Access continues through the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for mid-cycle cancellations. Contact support@voyonder.com with any billing questions.

Concierge Payments (v0.2.27)

When a concierge booking is confirmed and requires payment, a 'Make a Payment' button appears in the concierge chat panel. Click it to open a secure Stripe Checkout session — complete your payment and you're returned to Voyonder automatically. Payment status is tracked in real-time: pending, processing, succeeded, failed, or refunded. A Payment Summary card shows the amount, date, payment method, and description. Payment status badges appear on confirmed bookings in the concierge request list. Receipts are sent via email automatically for every successful payment. Card and ACH (US bank account) payments are supported. Online payments are accepted from $0.50 up to $999,999.99 — high-value bookings can be paid online (if an amount is outside this range, you'll see a clear message and can contact your concierge). Payment endpoints include automatic rate limiting (20 requests per 60 seconds) to protect your account — if you see a 'Too many requests' message, wait a few seconds and try again. Double-payment protection is enforced at the database level: if a payment is already in progress or completed for a booking, any further attempt to pay that booking is rejected with a clear 'This request already has a payment in progress or completed' message, so a double-click or page refresh can never charge you twice. If you abandon a checkout, the unfinished payment clears automatically once the checkout session expires (typically within 24 hours) — your payment is never cleared while the session is still active, eliminating any risk of a double charge. You can simply try again once the session has expired.

Concierge Payments

Manage one-off payments for concierge bookings — pay online, track status, and view receipts.

Team Settings

Manage your organization, invite teammates, and control roles and permissions.

Organizations

An organization is a group of people who share trips and manage roles together. You can create one or more organizations from the Team Settings page. The person who creates an organization becomes its first admin automatically. Each organization has a name and an optional URL slug.

Roles & Permissions

Each organization member has one of three roles: Admin (can manage members, change roles, invite new people, and edit org settings), Member (can create and edit trips shared with the org), or Viewer (can view org trips but not modify them). Only admins can change a member's role or remove someone from the organization.

Inviting Teammates

Admins can invite new members by email from the team settings page. The invitation is sent via email with a secure link. The invitee does not need an existing account — accepting the invitation creates their account automatically, adds them to the organization, and signs them in. Invitations expire after 7 days, and re-inviting someone creates a fresh link (old ones stop working).

Managing Members

The member roster shows everyone in your organization, their role, and when they joined. Admins can change a member's role or remove them from the organization. An organization always keeps at least one admin — you cannot demote or remove the last admin, protecting your team from being locked out. Non-admin members and viewers see the roster read-only.

Organization Trips

Trips can belong to an organization, making them visible to all organization members from their dashboard. Admin and member roles can create and edit org trips; viewers can view them. Org trips stay private — they never appear in the public gallery. Removing someone from the org revokes their access to org trips automatically.

Troubleshooting

Common issues and how to resolve them.

I can't sign in

Check that you're using the same email you signed up with. Request a new magic link from the login page — it expires after 15 minutes. If you still can't sign in, contact support@voyonder.com.

My itinerary looks wrong

Sage builds itineraries based on the information you provide. If something doesn't look right, tell Sage what to change — it understands natural language corrections. You can also manually adjust activities, days, and stops from the trip view.

A research request isn't understood correctly

Research requests are parsed for the key travel details — destinations, dates, budget, hotels, airlines, activities, and traveler count. If a detail is missed or misread, rephrase it plainly (for example: 'flights to Tokyo in December under $800 for 4 people') and try again. Most common phrasings are recognized; if a request is over 500 characters, shorten it and resubmit.

Activities aren't loading or seem outdated

Activities load from cache on returning visits for speed. If data seems stale, refresh the page — background revalidation updates the cache automatically. Activities are always available thanks to curated fallbacks, even if the AI recommendation engine is temporarily unavailable. If activities show error messages, contact support immediately.

A feature isn't working

Check voyonder.com/health for system status. Most issues are temporary and resolve quickly. If a problem persists, use the in-app support chat (available on all pages after signing in) or email support@voyonder.com. Include your account email for faster assistance.

How do I update my preferences?

Visit Settings > Preferences to update your travel style, budget range, dietary restrictions, accessibility needs, and notification preferences. Sage uses these to personalize your recommendations. Changes take effect immediately for new conversations.

How do I join the community?

Visit /case-studies to read travel stories and get inspired. Join the Voyonder Discord community at discord.gg/m4HZY7xNG3 to connect with fellow travelers, share tips, and get the most out of your Voyonder experience.

I can't invite someone to my organization

Only organization admins can send invitations. If you're a member or viewer, the invite option won't be available. Check your role in the Team Settings page — if you need to invite someone, ask an admin to do it or to upgrade your role.

My invitation link doesn't work

Invitations expire after 7 days. If your link has expired, ask an admin to re-invite you — this creates a fresh link. Only the most recent invitation link works; any previous links are invalidated. If you already have an account, make sure you're signed in with the same email the invitation was sent to.

I can't see an org trip on my dashboard

Organization trips are visible to all org members. Check that you're signed in with the email associated with your organization membership. If you were recently removed from the organization, you'll lose access to its trips. Contact an admin if you believe this is a mistake.

I accidentally removed someone from my organization

Removing a member from an organization is permanent and cannot be undone from the settings page. To add someone back, an admin can send a new invitation — the person receives a fresh invitation link, and once they accept, their membership is restored with the role from the new invitation.
